Cinemascore
Cinemascore claims to be the industry leader in measuring audience appeal but it's nothing but a load of hogwash. I only check out this site for a laugh. A grade is given according to audiences polled to estimate how movies will fare at the box office. There must be a huge sample error rate considering the grades given to recent films and their subsequent poor results at the box office. Here are some examples of how Cinemascore has got it absolutely wrong as of the box office gross on May 7, 2015:
Monkey Kingdom (Grade A-): $13,431,000
Run All Night (Grade A-): $26,461,644
The Duff (Grade A-): $33,979,342
The Longest Ride (Grade A): $34,295,000
The Water Diviner (Grade A-): $2,674,600
To make Cinemascore a further joke is the grades given to box office smashes like "Furious 7", "Cinderella" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron". Each of these movies received an A grade.
