The Expendables 3 (Action): 67 out of 100: There's plenty of testosterone and some might say stars past their use by date to pump up the action in this flick which will both satisfy and disappoint fans.

 

The movie begins with a rip-roaring scene which is a prelude of things to come highlighted by numerous explosions, death-defying stunts, excellent sound effects and a pounding music score. It is these action scenes throughout the film which help generate some excitement, although the frenetic editing occasionally makes it difficult for the viewer to focus.

 

Lucky for the brilliant action scenes because the story leaves a lot to be desired. It's a plot that drags thus making the film unnecessarily long for this type of movie. If you're after character development, forget about it but there are some funny one-liners to keep you amused.

 

It's great to see all these stars in the one film, but it would have been even better if they had a more satisfying narrative to work with.
