Pre-movie entertainment

Pre-movie 'entertainment': 45 out of 100: I don't know about you but have you noticed that the trailers and advertisements that come before a movie these days seem to go on forever? It's not just happening in Australia but also in Thailand. Last week I had to sit through 30 minutes of ads and trailers before a movie in Australia while this week in Thailand, it's been worse with a couple of screenings featuring 35 minutes of advertising!

I remember in the old days when there would be a short feature before the film. I guess it all comes down to money these days and corporate strategy. What better way to lure potential customers to products than to brainwash them with mindless advertising!

There are some ways around avoiding these ads and trailers. Do what I do and have a nap or surf the Internet. There's also no stopping you from entering the cinema just before the movie starts but you might have some problems trying to shift someone from your allocated seat.

When people say that they hope you enjoy the movie, they should also be adding that they hope you enjoy the trailers and advertisements too!
