cinema savings

Cinema savings: People often ask how I avoid paying those exorbitant movie admission ticket prices in Australia. The answer is quite simple. If you look around and do a decent job of it, you won't need to pay $20 to see a movie.

There are heaps of giveaways on the Internet. Even the blockbusters require a preview audience so movie studios give away tickets to these. You won't have any problems finding tickets for the smaller films as these often require word of mouth so they are virtually demanding audiences to see the movie for free.

I also subscribe to the Sydney Morning Herald and they usually have about two free movies each month. Being a teacher also helps as the IMAX cinema has free screenings every term for teachers to try to lure them to book school excursions.

My frequent flyers card allows me to claim movie tickets too. I've linked it to my credit purchases and along with the points I receive for my regular flights, you can see how quickly I can acquire these tickets.

Sometimes I do product testing or market research and some of these companies pay you with EFTPOS cards. You can easily guess how I use these.

So there you go. You can save a fair bit of money if you like going to the movies as much as I do. I have saved about $25,000 on movie tickets since 1996 so let that be motivation for you to follow my lead.
