Hercules (Action/Adventure): 72 out of 100: If you're expecting rocket science then you'll be extremely disappointed but if mindless entertainment is your thing then this movie has plenty of it.

It's a grand, CGI filled production with some stunts that are far-fetched but somehow keep you glued to the screen. Many of the battle scenes are tense and thoroughly entertaining. You'll recognise some acclaimed British actors who seem to have a fun time to the point where there is some genuine overacting which actually suits this over the top production. Dwayne Johnson has the right build for Hercules and doesn't disappoint as the action hero. Credit must go to the cinematography, production design, music score and costume design which excel in their respective fields.

You might find yourself asking why a generally silly plot is luring you but enjoy it for what it's worth, a fun popcorn film which doesn't require too much critical thinking.

Starring Dwayne Johnson, Ian McShane, John Hurt and Rufus Sewell
