Lucy (Science fiction/Action): 59 out of 100: This incredibly far-fetched film has more style than substance which Luc Besson, the director, is often renowned for. You must suspend all disbelief to enjoy this film but even then, the less than subtle directing style might grate on your nerves. There's a fair bit of meaningless dialogue which might disinterest viewers and even the action scenes which are highly visual and stylish, are repetitive.

Another factor which might contribute to the lack of interest is the fate of the characters as they don't appeal to viewers who are particularly fond of characterisation. Also, what seems like a rushed and abrupt ending won't endear itself to viewers who prefer a genuine resolution. The location shots are utilised well and contribute effectively in the unraveling of the plot while the visual effects are serviceable.

It's not a film that screams out 'blockbuster hit' but that's exactly what has happened in its opening weekend at the US box office.
