as above, so below

As Above, So Below (Horror/Thriller): 48 out of 100: "The Blair Witch Project" has a lot to answer for. Ever since that film was released 15 years ago, there has been a multitude of found footage films and this is one of them.

If you suffer from motion sickness, it might be a good idea to take some medication before seeing this film. There's no letting up with the shaky camera that sometimes it's difficult to work out what is happening. It also doesn't help with so many scenes shot in the dark.

The first 60 minutes is pretty much a non-event for horror aficionados so those after some scares will have to be very patient. The scares are actually quite good but they would have been better if you could actually see them properly.

Credit must go to the sound effects because you can hear the rumbles and vibrations reverberate in the cinema. It's harder to work out what the visual effects were like as they were difficult to see.

The unknown actors do a competent job in portraying a team of archaeologists searching for treasure in the Parisian catacombs. They do have to spew forth some silly lines but they do so with enthusiasm.

If you are not a fan of found footage films like me, you won't be converted after seeing this.
