Streaming Services

I used to go to the cinemas every few days but that has all changed due to Covid-19. Last year cinemas were closed in Sydney for three months while this year they reopened in mid-October after being closed for three and a half months. I'm now used to seeing movies at home.

My four streaming services are Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and Foxtel Go. The best of this lot is Amazon Prime Video which costs me $59 per year. Along with a huge catalogue of movies and TV shows, I can order from Amazon for free (if it's delivered within Australia), plus access free books and music. Disney+ is good value too for $120 per year with a focus on Marvel and Star Wars. Apple TV+ doesn't update its content often enough so there's a limited number of movies available. It definitely has more TV show content available so if you are a movie buff, $7.99 per month would be considered poor value. Apple TV+ also doesn't allow you to cast to your television.

Pre-pandemic, I was watching over 200 movies at the cinema each year. This year I have seen only 59 movies at the cinema. This is the lowest yearly total of movies I have seen during my adult life. There's not many films that will be released for the rest of the year that I desperately want to see at the movies. Streaming services have come to the rescue during Covid19!
