At the movies

The third in my series of websites I like to visit is "At the Movies". It is also a weekly TV show on the ABC in Australia and has been running on that network since 2004. The hosts are David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz who were also the hosts of the long running "The Movie Show" on SBS from 1986-2004.

The website features their weekly reviews and the transcript from the TV show itself. That actually saves me from having to see the show because everything I need to know is on the website. I can skip the movie scenes that they show on TV to save time. I'm only interested in their reviews and thoughts. Their exchanges are insightful, interesting and occasionally funny, especially when they disagree.

It is very easy to navigate the website. There is an archive where you can search for the movies they have reviewed and you can also watch videos of celebrities and film makers they have interviewed.

I don't always agree with their reviews but I find their presentation to be professional and their love of movies is evident in their communication with their audience. Australian film goers affectionately refer to them as Margaret and David, that's how well-known they are to Australian audiences.
