we are the best!

We Are The Best! (Drama/Comedy): 83 out of 100: This has to be one of the best foreign language films this year. A Swedish production, "We Are the Best!" is recommended viewing for those interested in coming of age tales. It features excellent performances by the three lead actresses who play teenage girls discovering their place in society and their attempts in forming a punk music group.

What sets this apart from similar-themed films is the character development interwoven with an engaging plot. There is some excellent dialogue featuring several hilarious lines. You'll find yourself empathasising with these characters' dilemmas and feel that you are actually involved with their predicaments.

Being a subtitled film, this might turn off some viewers and it doesn't help with some of the subtitles appearing before the characters speak. At least the subtitles are on the screen long enough for you to read them, unlike some other subtitled films where you have to be a speed reader to be able to read all the words.

"We Are the Best" is a fantastic teenage movie that will appeal to teenagers themselves, and adults alike. You sure will get a lot out of this movie even if you are not fond of subtitles. Let the quality of the movie speak for itself.
