how to train your dragon 2

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Animation/Action/Adventure): 70 out of 100: Having loved the original, this sequel came with very high expectations. Although it may have been technically better, it lacks the heart of the original and the camaraderie between Toothless and Hiccup. These scenes contributed to the overall fun and enjoyment of its predecessor.

The sequel is darker in tone and visuals, which would hamper the 3D viewing immensely if one chooses to see it in this format. The flying sequences are amazing with the visuals, editing and sound effects, but these action scenes detract from the characterisations which made the first film so brilliant. One cannot fault the music score which is soaring and rousing. The animation is excellent and will keep children glued to the screen especially whenever the dragons appear.

If this was a stand alone film, it would have rated higher but when compared to the original, it's a bit of a letdown.
