jerusalem

Jerusalem (Documentary): 75 out of 100: This simple though effective IMAX documentary provides the viewer with a fascinating insight into the main religions of Jerusalem. Each religion is documented without prejudice, making it a suitable study guide for religious students and an informative cultural piece for general viewers.

There are several breathtaking overhead landscape shots along with daily living scenes of Jerusalem, which make great use of the 3D technology. You feel as if you are actually there; that's how good the photography is.

The interview subjects document the significant events of their religion and we are witness to some of these. These scenes make the viewer appreciate the diversity of religion and culture.

Benedict Cumberbatch shows restraint and mastery in his role as narrator and is not a distraction from the visuals on the screen. His lines provide efficient information to the accompanying scenes.

Although not as flashy as some documentaries, "Jerusalem" serves its purpose as a satisfying religious and cultural lesson of this historical city.
