begin again

Begin Again (Drama/Comedy): 78 out of 100: New York City has never looked more sensational than it does in this film which features some catchy songs sung by Keira Knightley and Adam Levine of Maroon 5.

Keira Knightley plays the singer/songwriter whose songs are produced by Mark Ruffalo's down and out record executive/producer. They hit upon the idea of recording in the great outdoors and here is where New York City adds an extra layer as a 'character' in the movie, where it is presented in its full splendour.

The movie is well-acted with Mark Ruffalo proving yet again that he is an underestimated actor with considerable talent. Keira Knightley demonstrates a fine singing voice and it wouldn't surprise to see the soundtrack climb the charts. The movie does become bogged down occasionally in the character relationships, although the sprinkling of humour aids in offsetting the melodrama.

If you love New York and fine music, you'll enjoy "Begin Again".
